For Ben Bazis, everything started growing up in Omaha,
Nebraska where wakeboarding is not only limited by the weather but by the
number of places to ride. In Nebraska, wakeboarders are forced to be creative.
As a result, Ben’s niche for rails can probably be attributed to his years of
winching Omaha’s city landmarks. During Midwest winters, Bazis snowboarded city
playgrounds and school-stadium bleachers, but he has another passion; riding
motocross. In the summer of 2008
Ben broke his femur riding freestyle motocross putting a hold on wakeboarding
for over a year; similar to 2003 when Bazis nearly severed his leg riding boat.
Ben used this down time to expand in other areas. From 2008-2011 Ben graduated
from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a bachelor’s degree in
Accounting, acquired multiple professional licenses as a financial advisor and
started two companies. Ben now lives in Orlando, riding for Hostility Clothing,
and was recently featured in Alliance Wakeboard Magazine’s 2011 photo annual.
When asking Bazis his thoughts on his accomplishments he answered, “ I am
blessed to be where I am today and thankful to all who helped me get here,
first and foremost Jesus Christ.”
